NAVA EP is Hiring a Diné Energy Policy Organizer

NAVA Education Project is committed to improving the lives of Native American working families in tribal, rural, and urban areas and one of the ways we do that is by advancing policy that will have a positive impact on our communities. Since 2019, the State of New Mexico has taken a number of landmark steps to address the climate crisis and transition to a green energy economy. We applaud these efforts while simultaneously acknowledging that Native Americans must have a seat at the table to ensure that the shift to an ecologically sustainable economy is just and equitable.
The Diné Energy Policy Organizer will work with the Diné Energy Shiprock team as well as the Albuquerque team to promote the objectives of the energy work on the Navajo Nation. They will be expected to analyze energy policies and current events to ensure Diné are included in an equitable and just transition to the renewable energy economy. The Policy Organizer will develop informational materials, fact sheets, and newsletters that can engage multiple constituencies to join our efforts. The Policy organizer will support community action that challenges unfair or unsustainable energy policies. The ideal candidate will be energetic, creative, skilled in coalition building, and able to deal with complex subjects with diplomacy and candor.
